Zehra Fazal is a performer and playwright currently based out of Washington, DC. DC area theatre credits include The Kennedy Center, Synetic Theatre, Adventure Theatre, Journeymen Theatre, The Bay Theatre, Rorschach Theatre, Scena Theatre, and Landless Theatre.

In summer of 2004, Fazal earned a grant from Stanford University to study with the Takarazuka Revue, Japan's all-female musical theatre company. A graduate of Wellesley College, Fazal was awarded the Fisk Performance Prize for Acting and graduated with honors for translating and directing the English-language premiere of The Rose of Versailles from the Takarazuka repertoire.

In following with her passion for Japanese theatre, Fazal adapted and performed My Friend Hitler, a solo performance inspired by the play by Yukio Mishima. After premiering at the 2007 Capital Fringe Festival, she took the piece to fringe festivals in Indianapolis and San Francisco in 2008.

Fazal premiered her newest solo-piece Headscarf and the Angry Bitch, an irreverent comedy about growing up Muslim, to rave reviews at the 2009 Capital Fringe Festival. She earned the Best Solo Performance Award at the festival, as well as the Favorite Solo Performance award on DC Theatre Scene.

Fazal also works as an actor and model for print and film. She has lent her face to government groups such as the Defense Intelligence Agency, Customs and Border Patrol, Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association, and commercial clients including Marriott, Consumer Electronics Show, and National Geographic.

In summer of 2009, she filmed two pilots--Dog, with Integral Arts, which won Best Overall at the LA Independent Television Festival, and Best Drama at the New York Television Festival, and the sci-fi thriller C-47 with MaySun Productions.

When not performing, Fazal works as a freelance graphic designer.
